In this guide, we’ve used our experience to create a 7-day Mauritius golf holiday itinerary. We’ll make personal recommendations about where to stay, which golf courses to play and how to make the most of yoru time off the course.
7 Day Golf Holiday Mauritius: Where to stay
You may be spoilt for choice when selecting your luxury resort for your golf holiday to Mauritius. our short-list includes, Constance Belle Mare Plage, Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa and the Heritage Awali.
However, we recommend the Anahita Golf Resort. Located on the east coast of Mauritius and surrounded by the wonderful Ernie Els designed golf course, this is surely one of if not the best five star hotel on the island.
With our accomodation sorted let’s now take a look at a 7-day sample itinerary golf holiday based at the Anahita Resort which promises an unforgettable experience, combining world-class golf with luxurious accommodations and the stunning natural beauty of the island.
Day 1: Arrival in Mauritius
When you land in Mauritus you’ll arrive at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU). From the UK you can fly direct with British Airways and TUI from London Gatwick (LGW) to Mauritius. Air Mauritius also flies direct from London Heathrow (LHR). The flight time is just under 12 hours.
There are no direct flights from the USA to Mauritius but there are plenty of connecting flights from major airports throughout Europe.
From the airport you can get a cab or private car to Anahita Resort, which is on the east coast of Mauritius. Approximate transfer time is 45 minutes and will cost about 2300 Mauritian Ruppes which is the equivalent to £45/$50. You may also be able to arrange a private transfer throught the hotel.
Once you get to Anahita you’ll immediately feel your shoulders relax so check-in, unwind, and get acquainted with the resort!
Day 2: Golf at Anahita Golf Course
Day 2 may still start with a bit of a jet lag haze but it’s time to get out on the course!
As we staying at the Anahita Resort we don’t have too far to travel! We start our 7 day golf holiday itinerary with a round at the Anahita Golf Course.
This stunning course was designed by Ernie Els, and offers stunning views of the Indian Ocean and lagoons. A round here will really help you appreciate the beauty of this amazing island and why Mauritius is on so many golfers bucket list destinations.
After golf, relax at the resort’s spa, take a dip in the pool or chill on the white sandy beach. Get into the mood for the evening with happy hour at the beach side Vu Bar (5pm – 7pm).
We recommend eating at one of the special resort resturants try reservations at Origine or the amazing Signature restaurants. For a more casual experience head to Bliss on the beach (Insider tip: Bliss is closed from 7pm on Tuesday & Wednesday).
Day 3: Leisure Day
For day 3 of your golf holiday itinerary we recommend taking time out to enjoy a leisurely day at the resort.
At Anahita Resort if your feeling active you can book a game of tennis or take part in water sports available at the beach club including paddleboarding, hobbie cats, windsurfers or just enjoy pootling about on a pedal boat!
Other activities include exploring the sights below the waves with a bit of snorkeling or taking a glass-bottom boat tour.
For less strenuous relaxation book into the spa for a range of treatments (you can even book a “Golfers Workshop” massage!) or simply relax by the beautiful pool.
For a trip beyond the resort you might also consider a visit to the nearby Île aux Cerfs for additional water activities.

Day 4: Golf at Île aux Cerfs Golf Club
Day 4 of your golf holiday in Mauritius we recommended getting beyond the resort and playing a round of golf at the Île aux Cerfs Golf Club.
This Bernhard Langer-designed course is set on its own island and is a golfing paradise. Accessible by boat from Anahita the 5 minute trip across the aqua blue waters is a spectacular way to start a round of golf.
An interesting feature of Île aux Cerfs is that it is actually a 19 hole course! On the 18th tee you’ll have the option to play the standard 390 yard par 4 called “Back to the Boat” or you can elect to take the Ultimate Challenge and play into the huge 3 tier tournament green 410 yards off the tee. I
f you’re only playing one round here and have the opportunity we recommend giving the tournament challenge a go!
Île aux Cerfs is the number one rated course in Mauritius and it won’t take long for you to work out why! Before you leave we recommend trying Langer’s Bar & Grill which offers a magnificent view of the practice area and the 18th hole. The barmen here claim to make the best cocktails and mocktails in the World – so it would seem rude not to put them to the test!
After your round at this stunning golf course hop back on the boat to relive the highlights of you 18 holes as you return to Anahita for a relaxing evening.
Day 5: Explore the Island
Any successful golf holiday itinerary needs to build in some time to take a break from the course and your swing thoughts to explore the local area.
Although the images of Mauritius are generally of the beautiful beaches and stunning blue waters there are plenty of paces to visit beyond the beaches.
We recommend taking trips to Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth, Black River Gorges National Park, and Grand Bassin to get a real feel for the island.
You can arrange to take an guided tour through the hotel or maybe hire a car.
While out and about you can enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 6: Golf at Anahita Golf Course
The penultimate day of your golf holiday in Mauritius we recommend a return to the golf course.
The choice is yours whichever is your favourite between Île aux Cerfs or Anahita.
Whichever course you play set the target to beat your previous score, but also remember to enjoy every minute of these beautiful golf clubs.
Obviously, we never recommend slow play, but if you have time on a tee box or at the back of a green take a few moments to snap some memory making pictures.
You’ll appreciate these images even more during those winter golf moments back home, when you can transport yourself back to this golfing paradise!
Return to the resort for a well earned dip in the pool and chill on the beach. Sundowners on the beachfront are a must for your last evening on the island.
Ensure you’ve made reservations at your favourite resort restaurants and try that local dish you’ve been tempted to try during your week in Mauritius!
Day 7: Golf at Anahita Golf Course and Departure
As most return flights tend to be in the evening there’s time to finish off your golf holiday with a final round at either Île aux Cerfs Golf or on the Anahita Golf Course.
As this is your last round for this trip make sure you take the time to savour the six Ocean-side holes and enjoy the last two stunning holes on this beautiful course.
Post round enjoy a drink and/or a late lunch in the Clubhouse overlooking the 18th green and take in that view one more time!
After golf, relax at the resort and perhaps indulge in a pre-flight spa treatment if you have time.
Then it will unfortuantely be time to check out of the resort and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
After a week in this incredible location it may be hard to leave but as you drive towards the airport remember you’re already getting closer to the time when your return!
Insider tip: Earlier in the week ask the team at reception if you can arrange either a late check out or if they have a room you can use to freshen up before leaving for your flight home.

The currency used in Mauritius is the Mauritian Rupee, abbreviated as MUR or symbolized as ₨.
While the Mauritian Rupee is the official currency, some hotels, resorts, and tourist areas might also accept major foreign currencies such as the Euro (EUR), US Dollar (USD), British Pound (GBP), and the South African Rand (ZAR).
However, you may not receive the best exchange rates when using foreign currencies, so we advise you to exchange your money into Mauritian Rupees for everyday transactions and shopping before you travel.

Several carriers fly direct to Mauritius from UK & mainliand European airports flight time is approximately 10-12 hours. However, you may also consider a short layover in somewhere like Dubai which not only breaks up the long flight and may be slightly cheaper.

Flying to Mauritius from the USA
Flying to Mauritius form the USA is a long process. Currently there are no direct flights to Mauritius from the USA. The best flight options are often from New York or LA. The average flight time with a layover is 20+ hours – but the island that awaits you will be worth it!
US travelers use connecting flights usually in major European hubs like London, Frankfurt or Zurich. Flights from the West coast may also stop in Asia or Turkish Airlines have flights with an overnight layover in Istanbul.
Yes, you can golf carts are widely available at many golf courses in Mauritius and are often included in the green fees.
However, it’s a good idea to check with the golf courses you plan to play to ensure they have golf carts available and if you need to book ahead.
As a general rule travellers from the UK, Europe and the USA do not need an additional travel visa if you plan to stay in Mauritius for less than 90 days.
You will of course need your passport! So best to double check everyone in your group has theirs before they set off for the airport!
Insider tip: you should also check if there is a minimum amount of time your passport needs to be valid from your departure date as this can be the case for some destinations.
