From Lightbulb Moment to Inspiring the Travels of
Over 22,000 Golfers Around the World!
Our story began in the 1980’s when the Greencard Golf Tour was first dreamt up in a West London bathtub – see below for more on that lightbulb moment!
Since then we have created luxury golf holidays and events for over 22,000 golfers!
Our clients have teed it up in over 40 different countries across every continent of the planet where there’s a golf course.*
But enough of the numbers – let’s find out why do we do it and how can we help you!
*Please note: To clarify and avoid upsetting the members of the Endeavour & McMurdo Sound Golf Club in Antarctica
we’re only counting grass-based courses at this stage – but we’re working on it!
How we Became the #1 Golf Club That Travels the World!

The original Greencard Golf Tour was inspired by a lightbulb moment in a West London bathtub!
What if we could combine the friendly competition and social fun of our favourite golf clubs, with the passion of many amateur golfers to play the best courses in the World?!
What if we could create a luxury golf club that toured the golfing globe?!
And so developed an annual series of events hosted at bucket-list golf venues mainly based in Europe.
With a focus on quality, exciting destinations and our high service standards, our reputation grew and so did our horizons!
Soon we were taking golfers to far off places like Thailand, Argentina, South Africa, Mauritius, Bermuda and Vietnam.
And here we are 40 years later – still commited to those original values of quality, service, good company and friendly competition.
Greencard has truly become the “golf club that travels the World” and the good news – there’s still a lot of it to explore!

How we can inspire & expand your golf travels?
A lot has changed in the world of golf and travel since our early tour events.
There’s now a huge choice of golf destinations in every corner of the golfing globe!
There’s no doubt this explosion in the golf travel industry provides fantastic opportunities to see new places and play stunning golf courses.
However, more choice isn’t always a good thing.
Anyone who’s tried to organise a golf trip for friends or family will tell you it’s pretty stressful, and hard work.
Like many of our clients, you may prefer to travel as part of an organised group.
But we understand it can be difficult to take the plunge on that first trip when you don’t know anyone, or what to expect.
With our 40 years experience behind us we’ve learnt to help lift that burden from you, remove the anxiety and inspire your golf travels with new and exciting locations.

Download our new digital brochures!
It’s not always easy to see all the information you want about a golf holiday from a website especially when you are using a small screen!
So we’ve put together a new range of digital golf holidays full of key information and images from our 2024 golf holidays.

Meet Richard…

Richard Munroe is Managing Director at Greencard Golf and has over 25 years experience in the golf travel industry.
Having travelled to over 40 countries and organised over a thousand golf holidays and events he is the guy to ask if you want top tips or where to stay, play and visit for your next golf trip!
To save you having to call we thought we’d tap into Richard’s knowledge right here with some of his best recommendations.
Here are the 5 most frequently asked questions Richard answers from golfers when they find out what he does for a living!
“This is the number 1 question I get asked and it’s actually a harder and more personal answer than you might imagine.
Every golfer has their own personal preferences and priorities – which is also why it’s such a fun debate.
I always first rule out Augusta because that’s too obvious, but then I usually give some categories – something like this…
The must play: Banff Springs, Canada – which I highly recommend – and we are visiting again in 2025 as part of our spectacular Canadian West Coast event. I’d also put Hoiana Shores, Vietnam in this category which we fortunate enough to play in March 2024 as part of our Asia event and I was really impressed with.
Best links course: Kingsbarns
Best parkland course: This one is quite tricky as there are so many top courses to choose from so I’m cheating and picking two! The first is Les Bordes in the Loire Valley and the second is Royal Bled Kings Course in Slovenia which is a real hidden gem. I’m looking forward to playing there again in 2025.
Closest to my heart: Dunnerholme Golf Club in Cumbria England. I think I’m right in saying that Dunnerholme is the only ten hole golf course in the UK and the place where my brother and I learnt our golf! Our Grandad was a long time member until he was in his 90’s and we enjoyed many happy (and some frustrating!) hours here – it will always have a special place in my heart.
So I always cheat a bit but hopefully cover all the options for people and give them some different places to consider.
By the way three others I occassionally throw in which are a bit left field are Pearl Valley in South Africa and Ullna Golf Club in Sweden where were lucky enough to play during our 2023 season, and my last one is Ba Na Hills in Vietnam!
“Another frequent question and another that has so many options depending on the individual or group.
The past 10-15 years have seen so many new destinations enter the golf market and become more accessible.
So again I have a couple of options:
Value for money: Although prices did go up last year I still think Turkey offers great value for quality of accommodation and golf. The hotels like the Regnum and Montgomerie Maxx that have opened recently are spectacular and courses such as the Carya Golf Club are world-class. We’ve got a great article about the best golf holidays in Turkey for 2024 which makes some good recommendations for anyone planning a trip here.
Best all-rounder: Abu Dhabi probably falls into this category – great hotels and courses – both offering good value for money, perfect climate in the European winter months and not too far away so the flight time and time difference are very manageable.
Further afield: If you’re looking for something a bit different but eqaully good in terms of hotels and courses then I’d always recommend South Africa in particular Fancourt Golf & Spa Resort in George. Good weather, beautiful golf courses, great food and wine and the huge bonus of no jet lag all make South Africa a really good choice if you are looking further afield.
I’d also recommend looking at a multi-destination trip here to combine say a wine trip or safari into your holiday – next year we are taking a group to three destinations in South Africa including Fancourt but also Sun City and a lodge at Kruger National Park where we will also play the fantastic Leopard Creek golf course.”
“I recently flew with Singapore Airlines who were fantastic.
I also always enjoy flying with Emirates who are probably my favourite amongst those I’ve flown with so far.
But I have to say I flew a couple of times with Finnair last year. I was very impressed with their service and would have no problem in recommending them as an option.”
I grew up in the UK and my golfing memories start during the time when Faldo, Olazabal, Woosnam and Ernie Els were in their prime so I missed out on Jack and Seve really – although the stats and footage speak for themselves.
I also thought Freddie Couples was the coolest golfer on Tour with the best, smoothest swing in the game – probably still is!
Obviously, then there was Tiger who just won everything until it all went a bit wrong. Some of my most iconic memories of pro golf involve him – like the chip in on 16 at the Masters etc.
But I think of all time my favourite would be Rory. He has done so much for the game and is still making a difference – I believe he’ll win more majors in the future, but even if he doesn’t his record on and off the course is incredible.
I really admire his work ethic, and playing style. I admire the stance he has taken on the current state of the gane and am really interested to see where he can take the future of the sport.”
“There’s definately been a long-lag from Covid but I think 2024 will be a year when people who can will be looking to travel a little further afield again. We are certainly seeing that with enquiries we’ve been getting over the past few months.
Obviously, there other considerations such as the cost of living which means for many there is less budget available for things like golf breaks which are often at least third in the list of holiday priorities.
But I think those who do decide to travel will be looking for more from their money and we’ve seen a rise in more experience based trips – so more than just a golf break that includes the standard 7 nights 5 rounds of golf – although no doubt there’s demand for the more golf focused trips.
However, let’s say you’re organising a golf trip for 8 friends for 5 nights and as much golf as you can fit in? Whatever you’re budget you’re still going to want to have some options that are a little different and becuase of the fantastic offers in places like Turkey expectations have changed as to the level of accomodation and course – everything has to be Instagrammable!!
From our own clients point of view I think they still want the luxury hotels, top golf courses and beautiful beaches etc but they are also looking to add on additional activities like safari’s in South Africa, wine tours in France, glass-bottom boat trips in Mauritius to see the sealife, or a trip to the top of the Marina Bay hotel in Singapore for amasing night views and cocktails!
I think this has been driven to some extent by the rise in the popularity of cruise holidays where activities are built into the itinerary. We’ve worked hard to be in a position to offer those experiences and create truly memorable holidays for our clients.
Plus as all our event holidays are fully accompanied we can make the arrangements personally, and ensure everything goes smoothly – or we have the contacts to allow clients to make the bookings themselves if they prefer.
So while I think the traditional golf break to Spain & Portugal will still be popular at the other end of the market I think we are seeing a trend towards a wider experience than just great golf courses and luxury hotels.”
