As we get ready for the Open Championship this year, I have to admit to starting to feel that this is going to be something special. I always get that feeling a few days before an Open, but when it is at the “Home of Golf” then my anticipation is almost fever-pitch!!

And I’m not the only one the multiple sports and golf news channels are currently full of previews, predictions and re-runs as they prepare and get ready for the Open Championship. This year the honour of leading the 152 players off the first tee will fall to Rod Pampling of Australia who will tee off at approximately 6.30am. You can see the full list of the British Open tee times here.

Three Farewells That Will Make the 2015 Open Championship Extra Special

The 2015 Open Championship will be extra special partly due to the number of goodbyes we will be saying to at least three of the biggest golf personalities of the past four decades or more.

The great Tom Watson, five times Open Championship winner will probably be playing his last Open – see the video below when Tom shared Jack Nicklaus’ final Old Course round. Nick Faldo 3 times Open Champion, including 1990 at the home of golf – which he claims is his greatest golfing achievement, also plays his last St Andrews Open – although maybe not his last Open Championship.

And of course we will be saying farewell to a man who has been the voice of golf for 40 of the 144 Open Championships. Ivor Robson has been the official first tee starter at the British Open since 1975. He has one of the most recognisable voices in sport will be greatly missed by every golf fan, who love impersonating the great man, and as the video below shows even the players have a go – some with more success than others!

Three Short Cut Videos to Get Ready for the 2015 Open Championship

However, let’s be honest who has the time or inclination to take the time to watch and read this endless coverage? We certainly won’t as we will be battling out the 2015 Greencard Golf Tour Event in Ireland for the early part of the week!

But we still want to get in the mood so have found three short videos that will hopefully set the scene and get us all ready for the excitement and buzz for what we think will be a memorable 2015 Open Championship.

Enjoy the videos and the golf – we’ll also keep you posted on progress at the second most important golf tournament this week right here!
