Kicking off the 2016 Greencard Golf Tour in the Sunshine!
To lift all our spirits the 2016 Greencard Golf Tour kicks off in the sunny, warm golfing haven that is the Algarve region of Portugal. Our New Year Festival starts 27 December 2015 and runs through to the 3 January 2016 – just enough time to get over Christmas, see in the New Year and get in a 72 hole competition on beautifully manicured fairways and greens! As this event is part of the Greencard Golf Tour we needed accommodation and golf courses that meet our high standards and can cater for a large group which obviously narrowed down our options.

Millions of Euros have been invested in the hotel over the last 18 months to modernise the bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, and other facilities.

Test Yourself with Four Rounds on one of Europe’s Top Courses
Alongside the new luxury accommodation, a major factor in our decision to use the Dona Filipa for our New Year Algarve golf breaks destination was the associated golf course. 
San Lorenzo has been ranked in the Europe’s Top 100 courses for 25 years in a row San Lorenzo is ranked amongst the top courses in the Europe and it is open exclusively to the hotel guests. So this event is an amazing opportunity to play one of the best courses we play on the Greencard Golf Tour season. The course is just a 10 minute drive from the Dona Filipa hotel, and is a must play course for any Algarve golf holiday.
72 Hole Golf Competition on the best Algarve Golf Courses
Greencard Golf Tour events are played over four rounds using the stableford scoring system. For our New Year Festival we are playing 3 rounds at San Lorenzo and one round at nearby Pinheiros Altos Golf Club – a 27 hole complex winding through beautiful umbrella pines and includes a signature island par 3 hole. We will also play a team competition round at San Lorenzo before the main tournament. 
Qualify for Our Season Grand Finals
Like all Greencard Golf Tour Events the competition provides and opportunity for players to qualify for our Season Grand Finals. To see how our unique “Tour Points” system works please click here but briefly the competition winner will automatically qualify for the finals. Points are awarded to the top ten of each event so this New Year Algarve golf holiday presents a great chance to get early tour points onto our Order of Merit and set yourself up for your own Grand Finals place.
