The Golf course at Kingsbarns is currently ranked the 40th best in the World, and, although the man-made design is not to every “Links Lover’s” liking it is definitely a course that should be on your golf bucket list.
SEE SOME OF THE SPECTACULAR HOLES AT KINGSBARNS GOLF LINKS
The modern Kingsbarns golf course was designed by Kyle Phillips and to make the most of the sea views the land was shaped so that there are three tiers of golf holes. You’ll get your first view of the spectacular coastline after you hit your first tee shot through dunes and dogleg right and it stays with you for the rest of your round.
The Kingsbarns California Link
In our opinion two holes in particular play make the most of the coastal setting, the par-5 12th, which is often compared to the famous 18th at Pebble Beach, the video below shows you why! Our second favourite hole is the par-3 15th hole which may also have an iconic Californian double – the 12th at Cypress Point.

But this layout is more than just sea views, in true links style in keeping with many of the courses in this most famous of golfing areas, Kingsbarns features many steep, pot bunkers both along the fairways and protected the large fast and sloping greens. Pin positions can be especially creative, set on slopes and tucked in corners.
As with any links course there are a hundred ways to get round the various hazards, bumps and hollows and the local caddies have superb course knowledge that will help you enjoy your round and get the most from your Kingsbarns experience. But for some advance tips we found a very good guide on how to play Kingsbarns golf course here.
